Neat! I like that. Did you do something to work around the detents?

I wanted the ball to seat in the bore too, so I pushed the freak insert back 😁

I talked with Scott and they are starting to see that issue on their markers too. If the sliding elements (front piece+rods+thumb pusher) are not aligned properly they get wired air flow and break paint in the breach.
I need to make some test and see if I can replicate that.

Also they upgraded the orings they are using so they shouldn't come off the main valve rod shaft.
Again, I'll test it and see how it goes

I was previously giving them the benefit of the doubt that it would work better in warmer weather, but it appears that was unwarranted

    Field update:

I took mine to the field this past week and ... It went ... ? ...

    Here are a few points:
    - Shot at 220 fine, started breaking over that (~70f ambient; .690 freak insert)
    - Crazy amount of double feed, normal stroke and detent in place.
    - After 1 game, all the mounting screws for the frame were loose, everything was flapping around. Again, 1 game ...
    - the spring recess on the back got dented in by the hammer/hammer pusher so the spring compresses to the side. I'm gonna make a spring guide to prevent that spring from bending sideways.

So ... Got some work to get a normal game going ..

    Edit:
I talked to Scott and I have a bit of a different perspective on things. He pointed me towards a potential alignment issue causing the breaks over 220fps. I will test and report back 👍

I e-mailed Scott and got a reply on 3/19 that he was shipping out the replacement feed gate and my Freak XL barrel. Haven't seen them yet but am just patiently waiting.

Has anyone who ordered the barrel kit, received one?

Well, I'm disappointed (and kinda pissed) they are not selling spare parts ... I emailed Scott asking to purchase a few spares, and I got 1 email back saying he "could help" never to be heard from again 😔

So we're on our own with no support or parts once we purchase it ... Thumper 2.0 fell right there 😅

Good to know, I heard someone from Hawaii with similar feedback. Not just cold environs.

I'm in Texas and mine doesn't work. It was 70 F last weekend and I was finally able to chrono over 240. I broke 2-3 balls out of 30 shots? Frustrating.

Yep, the earlier Phoenix had an integrated VASA.

Take a closer look at the Phoenix Prototype paintball gun, manufactured by Metadyne Industries

Worse it was redesigned to remove it from the original design. lol

I dont see VASA happening without at least a new frame and possibly some body machining too ... It wasnt design with any intent to ever add one or have any modification done to teh marker ...
Working...
