It’s a tricky kind of product to make. People want Duckslydes for sure but if they are cheap and common people will actually review them fairly so they have to not suck. It has to fit properly, not eff up the barrel, and not make the action worse. If it does that we probably ALL want one.

It’s machined so the feed directly mounts to the body. It won’t affect function.

From my understanding from the Ballers who organized this. The goal of these are to put these back into the players hands. Not put them on the walls of Collectors / Scalpers. They will be cheep enough to play around with modify and make fun builds with. I already got big plans for mine.

Interesting. That's the reason I don't want one.

RAZRBAKK I'm actually waiting on my original Duckslide to get anno'd so I'm really all set. I just like the Nova name and more of in shock that this is happening.

I mean, they had it on display at Fulda Gap so it's no secret.

This rubs me the wrong way. For a company that complains as much as he does about other people or companies stealing their designs, to take a product and reverse engineer it.

I sure do hope that who ever they were working with on this was someone that produced these kits, or there are Major improvements on the designs.

just telling folks like how i was told.
i dont think theres going to be much changed/improvements. besides already being milled for direct feedtube/body attachment.
these were 3d scanned and measured off a body kit i sold to someone earlier last year.

i dont have any experience with the nova guys claiming folks ripped them off but if VKC or Steve Brett had a problem with these, i would let them know.

They're not the first. All the "duck" kits are a copy of the original DD68 so don't be too upset. Nobody is currently making them so there's no harm no foul on Nova's part

There are almost no truly 100% new ideas. I don't fault anyone for bringing back an old product, or trying to build off someone else's design. It's the hierocracy of the situation that bugs me.

I’ve never played with a duckslide. Think I’d be way more into the aesthetics and not care for the actual feel. Would probably pick one up regardless because I like Nova and am a sucker for all things Phantom.

I 3D printed a duckslide and ended up really not liking it at all.

I love the aesthetic but sighting with it was very difficult. I'd be interested to know what a real one is like.

We ever end up at the same field I will gladly let you take mine out for a ride. I have mine setup with a Side Saddle ICD Lever Changer and an RTR Knuckle CO2 Cartridge holder. Top is milled so the stock feed sits where it should and does not move with the slide. I actually like that the Duckslide adds some weight to the marker (Phantoms tend to be too light for me in Stock Class form). They take some getting used to point and shoot with a short barrel but play with it and not worry you will suck for several games before you start shooting them reasonably well. In my opinion a Duckslide has a steep "learning curve" but once you get used to them and point shooting you will find playing stock class with a pistol is the way to go. Due to the compact size there are a lot of shots from odd positions you can make. The one thing that I had to learn when I started using one the best way to play is being in constant motion and depend on quick shots and movement to get you through.

My experience was similar to yours Razrbakk. I tried a duckslide, a milled duckslide (to eliminate the feeding issues), and a Mongo VKC Redux but couldn't get past not being able to sight down the barrel. When you maybe get one good shot per game on a player (when running a stock class pistol format) not being able to aim in the traditional way really took the fun out of it (outside of bull rushing to get the kill and getting lit up by the remaining members of the team every time).

I found a PGP or PPS style marker to much more useable when it comes to pistol format

Slims spring or fall we can make that happen.

The way these are designed they will feel very similar to an over barrel pump. You won’t get the slow feed issues you get with stick feeds that attach to pump handles like the Carter and the DD68. They slide nicely and are smooth it’s basically a cosmetic thing.

My Carter Duck you have to rock forward (traps one ball in stack between body and slide) rock back (so it won’t put two balls in the breach and clip) pump, drop barrel and fire. You can do it quickly but it takes practice.

Stock original Duck slides don’t clip as bad but they can especially if you pump fast. The stack on a Duck slide is shorter so it’s less prone to clipping. Most people that use them modify the top so the feed can attach directly to the body like a standard phantom feed. The Nova comes like that and has addressed this issue. This will allow it to operate like a fancy over barrel handle.

I know Duck Slides have clearance issues on ASP round head body’s due to the lack of taper on the round head body to fit cocker barrel threads. I’m sure you could clearance the inside a bit to fix that problem. However Cocker barrels are larger OD as well so careful selection of cocker barrels choice will be needed. J4 one piece barrels should work.

Phantom barrels and any barrels designed for over barrel handles will work with the nova body. You might get Ano rub as it uses the barrel as a guide and it’s aluminum on aluminum.

I can confirm when I get mine. I want to try the ASP round head combo. I’m likely going to run a ASP modified phantom body to a phantom DW freak barrel and Some kind of mock suppressor (thanks gravy seals)

Any of the phantom spec frames and trigger groups will work.

You should try Lachance’s Duck Slide redsquirrel he has one modified like the new nova.

Instead of doing an ASP ball detent mod on mine I drilled and recessed a hole in the body from the bottom to install a Spyder style detent. I did this before I had the top milled to mount the feed onto the body. If I was to do it again I would be able to drill just in front of the Stock Feed mount for a Spyder Detent. The ASP modification is great but the Spyder detent mod is almost just as good just keep plenty of spare detents because they are more prone to shearing.

I have a good ano shop locally. If they only do raw, a) I'd be surprised and b) I'd be up for coordinating a batch of black and a batch of clear. Haven't asked prices on hard ano yet...

Yup, if it is a direct copy of an original Duckslide a 6 inch barrel will just stick out from the end by a smidge (highly technical measurement) It looks the best with a Duckslide but I prefer to play with a 9 inch CCI barrel.

Grendel you should be able to adjust it so that it is flush with a 6" barrel.
